Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a full time Veterinary Surgeon (40 hours per week) to join our team – part time applicants are also considered. Current rota for inpatient check is approximately 4 nights in 6 weeks, one weekend in 6 weeks and one consulting Saturday every 6 weeks. CPD actively encouraged including certificates. This role is based between 2 branches, all within a 15 minute drive.

About Us

We are a 3 site, tier 2, small animal only practice. We have our OOH covered by VetsNow, but do keep some hospitalised patients (low risk, always at the on-call vets discretion). Our nursing team does night checks but there is veterinary cover in case it is required. We only operate at our main branch, and we ensure all vets get time here to allow operating and management of inpatient cases, with consistent time at one of our other branches to allow you to build a client base and allow continuity. We want you to have continuity, it makes clients happy and you won’t have to read a ream of clinical notes every time you call your client in. Operating at one site means we put our multi parameter monitor to use on everything we want to, our nursing staff also use blood pressure on anything they get the chance to. Ultrasound, in house lab, digital x-ray and tonometer. Dental x-ray is planned. We have 7 RVNs and 4 training SVNs as your support staff, along with our reception team.

Applicant Requirements

We are interested in hiring someone who will feel appreciated and engaged in the role and we can adapt to the right candidate – flexible working is seriously considered. Good medicine is good business, and that means the right treatment for the patient in their situation, not just gold standard out of a textbook. Engaged staff are happy staff. We have been hindered by covid-19, but we want active input and collaboration when looking at practice policies. We want evidence-based medicine and clinical freedom and for us to share our expertise with each other. Wewould be delighted to offer support and welcome applications from recent graduates.
