Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

The Role

We have a great opportunity for a part time Veterinary Surgeon to thrive and become a valued member of an ever-growing small animal practice in Driffield, East Yorkshire. This would suit a practitioner with a broad range of interest, looking to continue their veterinary journey and hopefully set down roots. You will have full clinical freedom and support to continue to build on a well-established practice base and to be part of a close clinical team.
You will be involved with all aspects of the practice from first consultations through to clinical work ups and surgical cases. This could suit someone looking to study for a certificate in the future with time available within the rota to complete this. You will be a self-motivated small animal Veterinary Surgeon looking to embrace general practice with the huge variety of cases, people, and animals it presents, as well as enjoying a great work/life balance as part of a dedicated vet team.
As a confident communicator you will look forward to meeting and talking with clients daily, as well as greeting and caring for their companions. You will also have a passion for striving to provide the best care possible for your patients and working as a part of a small, dedicated team to this end. On call is only one weeknight in every two weeks, and one weekend every three months. This role is also only a 3-day working week!

About Us

Bridge Street Vets was established in 2013 but in a relatively short time has become a very well respected and most recommended practice in the local area largely due to our people orientated approach. We occupy a former doctor’s surgery, within which we knocked down a few walls and moved a few doorways and, hey presto, a spacious, sunny environment to work in. We are proud to show new clients around and everybody is impressed on the standards of the premises and the cleanliness of the space.

Our facilities include:

Two consulting rooms with height adjustable tables (with a third planned)
Two waiting areas
Separate dog and cat inpatient wards
Isolation ward
Imaging room, with digital x ray processor and ultrasound scanner
In house IDEXX haematology and biochemistry analysers
Dedicated operating theatre
Large preparation area
Dental station with nitrogen powered air tools and ultrasonic scaler
Fully equipped ‘Sunshine Groomers’ salon with two full time groomers employed by the practice.

South facing garden to the rear providing an ideal place for a quiet and relaxing sunny summertime lunch break

We have a fantastic 3 Veterinary Surgeon team who are dedicated and passionate about great standards. We are also keen on professional development and mentoring and have been a Veterinary Nurse training practice for many years now. Our Nurses and support team form the backbone of a well-run and organised practice. We see a varied caseload which is predominantly small animals, first opinion, although we have welcomed some exotics and are keen to support interests!

Being in a lovely market town we often have the pleasure of building a great rapport with our clients and seeing patients grow through their life. We offer a fantastic pet health plan and are big on preventative health care!

Applicant Requirements

The right candidate will be a Veterinary Surgeon capable of delivering high quality and personable veterinary care. A desire to be involved in the development and growth of the practice is very important. You will need to have good clinical knowledge and sound judgement and the ability to mentor where required.
