The Role

We are currently looking for a Senior Wards Nurse to join our friendly team in Ringwood, Hampshire. This is a full-time role working on average 40 hours a week over 3 days 7am-7:30pm and 1 in 5 weekends (Saturday and Sunday 7am-7:30pm). As Senior Wards Nurse, you will work alongside our wards team comprising both dedicated and rotating Ward Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants across two dog wards, a separate cat ward and within the Intensive Care Unit. In addition to providing gold standard, nursing care to our patients the role also involves supporting the Head of Department and deputising in their absence, supervising, and organising the nursing team and assisting with the running of the day. Applicants should have a high attention to detail and be willing to contribute to the training, supervision and development of veterinary nurses, interns, student veterinary nurses and veterinary care assistants within the department.

About Us

Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is a multidisciplinary referral centre currently undergoing extensive expansion and improvement of the facilities. The practice is located in the South of England close to the New Forest National Park and South Coast offering easy access to a multitude of outdoor activities. Bournemouth beach has just been voted number one beach in the UK by Tripadvisor and is a 20-minute drive from the practice. The area offers good access to regional and international airports and has excellent road and rail links to London. We have a fantastic team of 50 clinicians, consisting of specialists, residents, interns and over 70 Veterinary Nurses.

Applicant Requirements

Our ideal candidate must have a RCVS Veterinary Nursing Qualification and advanced Nursing Qualifications – Certificates/Diploma/VTS. You will have extensive knowledge of all aspects of wards nursing to include experience of nursing intensive care patients and experience of leading a team.
