The Role

We are seeking an Imaging Veterinary Surgeon to manage the CT/MRI department within our fantastic 24-hr Hendon hospital.

The department is housed in a separate Advanced Imaging Building in the extensive main hospital gardens. The Advanced Imaging Building also has an arthroscopy/spinal theatre and a kennel room. Here, you will work alongside a dedicated Imaging RVN.

The role primarily involves performing CT and MRI scans after making an initial clinical assessment and differential diagnosis list for a vast range and number of cases. Ability to Ultrasound would also be an advantage. You will also have the benefit of external support, as the images are sent to our specialist team at VetCT for a full diagnostic report – an excellent learning tool to enhance your knowledge.

Salary and hours:

This role offers a competitive salary plus housing allowance of £10,200 per annum and £2500 vehicle allowance (or Medivet vehicle) which is added to your base salary and paid to you in 12 instalments with the monthly payroll. A generous £1500 CPD allowance is also designed to drive your progress with 3-days CPD leave. RCVS, VDS and BVA membership is also provided.

This role works to a 4-day week with 1:3 half or 1:6 full weekends. You will also be included on our bank holiday and on-call rota to support our night team if required (approx. 3 weeks on call per year), these rota’s are fair share with all vets in the region. 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays.

As qualified MRCVS, you’ll already have good experience gained in small animal practice. Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in advanced imaging and ultrasound, and hold a certificate/PHD in imaging or be working towards one.

The Branch

Medivet 24-hr Hendon is a bustling hospital, it has recently been recognised as one of London’s best veterinary practices.

The successful candidate will be joining a highly experienced team led by Branch Partner and Vet, Jerry Dunne, Senior Partner and Vet, Richard Leonard.

We have seven permanent Veterinary Surgeons plus a large volume of mobile and referring vets on any given day, including certificate holders or those currently undertaking a certificate.

We have a fantastic nursing team of 12 including a dedicated Imaging RVN and SVN’s and reception team.

It houses an MRI/CT unit and so treats many interesting neurology, medicine, surgical and other cases. Additionally, Hendon 24hr is equipped with endoscopy, arthroscopy, digital x-ray, ultrasound, multi-parameter monitors, in-house bloods and much more! The group is also supported by it’s own pet blood bank, laboratory as well as other services.

It supports Medivet clinics in all of Northwest London but also the whole of Southern England, with interesting and complicated cases.
