Emergency Veterinarian at SCAN in Clearwater FL

We are currently seeking five emergency veterinarians to join our team at Specialists in Companion Animal Neurology (SCAN) in Clearwater, Florida. Initially the ER will be open Friday-Sunday and we will expand to a full 24/7 emergency service once we have hired all five emergency doctors. We are also looking for someone with leadership interest to be the ER department lead.

SCAN-Clearwater opened its doors 2 1/2 years ago and prides itself on the great relationships we have built with surrounding veterinarians. We believe that building trust and acting as an extension of their practice is the best way to serve our community. As a result of this tremendous success and the growing need for a quality Emergency Medicine provider in the area, we have decided to expand into a full-service ER. As an Emergency Veterinarian, you will be provided the diagnostic tools and resources to make independent medical decisions providing essential emergency, critical care, and surgical services to patients in their time of need.

SCAN is a boutique-style neurology and neurosurgery practice with two locations (the other facility is in Naples Florida). SCAN -Clearwater is the premier choice for veterinary neurology and neurosurgery for the entire Tampa Bay area and beyond. The SCAN practice philosophy is to provide technologically advanced veterinary care with unsurpassed patient care and compassion. The practice has a 1.5 T MRI, separate neurosurgical and soft tissue surgery suites, IDEXX Lab machines (CBC/Chem/Lytes/Coag/Blood Gas/Sedi-Vue Dx, ACTH Stim Testing in-house along with Bile Acids), Digital Radiography and Electrosurgery; Ultrasound and Endoscopy will be added for use by the ER service. In addition, we can monitor the SPO2, etCO2, EKG, and have 2 different Blood Pressure monitoring modalities (Doppler and Cardell) ; our surgical suites are equipped with LifeWindows Multiparameter monitors.. Specifically, the practice is 7500 square feet, has 5 exam rooms, a patient visit/quiet room, 2 surgical suites, a special procedures room for ultrasound/endoscopy, 1.5T MRI, a devoted and pre-wired room for a future CT, a large ICU a several offices for doctors.

The practice is in beautiful Clearwater Florida – easily one of the most desirable locations in the U.S. with access to the gulf coast right outside your back door!!! Clearwater is a city in Florida’s Tampa Bay area known for sunny weather and gulf coast beaches. Nestled on Florida’s west coast across the Bay from Tampa, the area averages 361 fabulous days of sunshine per year. A constant supply of warm weather (temperatures range from the low 70s in the winter to the low 90s in the summer), close proximity to two airports (St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport and Tampa International Airport) and large city amenities right over the bridge in Tampa. Main attractions include lots of free and family-friendly waterfront activities, fresh-from-the-Gulf seafood, great beach bars, an exciting year-round events calendar, and of course, miles and miles of drop-dead-gorgeous beaches.
