Aurora Animal Hospital in Centennial, CO is seeking an experienced Associate Veterinarian to join our team!

Aurora Animal Hospital is an established AAHA accredited small animal general practice with a loyal clientele from the surrounding affluent neighborhoods still experiencing steady growth. We are partnered with National Veterinary Associates but all management is handled on a local level by the DVM that are partial owners. The practice is a clean, recently expanded modern facility with 9 exam rooms, a dedicated surgery suite, large treatment area, digital radiography, ultrasonography, dental table with digital dental radiography. We are primarily a general practice for dogs and cats including wellness care, urgent care, hospitalization, surgery, dentistry, acupuncture, therapeutic class IV laser, palliative care, humane euthanasia. We also offer urgent care services in addition to general practice. Several of our doctors serve a large exotics client base including small mammals, birds, reptiles, potbelly pigs. There is a mobile boarded surgeon, mobile boarded radiologist, and mobile boarded cardiologist available regularly and several referral/ER hospitals in close proximity. The practice is certified Feline Friendly and utilizes Fear Free approach when possible. We pride ourselves on our positive and supportive clinic culture with excellent job satisfaction among our fun, friendly staff. As a busy practice we have a high ratio of support staff to doctors with a tiered training protocol to ensure competent, qualified technicians and assistants. You will be a great fit for our team with excellent client communication, compassion, quality medicine, and great time management skills. 30 minute appointments and almost paperless system using Avimark. Variety of schedules available with hours of 7:30a-8p Monday through Friday and 9a-3p on Saturday/Sunday – usually 3-4 weekday shifts and rotating weekends, no on call. Will consider part time. Base salary plus production, no negative accrual. Great benefits: CE, license fees, 2 weeks PTO, AVMA dues, PLIT, health insurance, DEA, 401k, etc. Exotics experience desirable but not required. Strong dentistry skills desirable. A DVM interested in medicine appointments only (no surgery/dentistry) also desirable.

We sit high above Denver in a suburb with a full view of the Front Range Mountains. Our neighborhood is in a high economic area – with many Denver Bronco players as clients! We have at least 6 community events at the hospital a year. Everything from a great open house with food and events to classes in how to prevent dog bites in children. We often speak at schools or have girl and Boy Scout visitors.

Job Summary

In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, the Associate Veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with a Managing Doctor and supporting medical staff. This individual advances the quality of medicine in the practice and provides exceptional client service to our clients and patients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Builds rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to, and empathizing with their concerns
  • Performs physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures that deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
  • Communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs.
  • Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols.
  • Stays current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.
  • Assists in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
  • Presents a positive image of the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.

Skills and Basic Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university.
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed.
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works collaboratively with hospital team members.
  • Makes decisions confidently and effectively.
  • Manages time and tasks appropriately.
  • Models a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients.
  • Commitment to ongoing educational development and growth
  • Minimum 1 year experience required
