Lanta Animal Welfare was founded by Junie Kovacs in 2005. Her mission was to end the suffering of the hundreds of homeless, abused and injured animals on Koh Lanta. To date, we have sterilized and treated over 15,000 animals, and with your support we continue to grow—helping more and more animals each year.

We are the only vet clinic on Koh Lanta, and we also run mobile clinics on the surrounding islands and mainland to sterilize and provide vital first aid to hundreds of dogs and cats each year.

That’s where you come in! We are always in need of experienced (minimum of 3 years) veterinarians and vet nurses to help run our busy clinic.

Break away from the ordinary: Experience life on a tropical island as a vet or vet nurse volunteer!

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the center. Without them, we simply could not function effectively, and the conditions of the stray animal population wouldn’t be what it is today. With a small but mighty staff, we rely on the generosity of our volunteers who come from all over the world year-round to give their time, expertise and energy to help treat and improve the quality of care for suffering dogs and cats on Koh Lanta and surrounding islands.

As a vet or vet nurse volunteer, you will receive:

• Lunch on weekdays; 24/7 access to basic breakfast and food supplies; unlimited filtered water, coffee, tea and soy milk
• Local recommendations for discounted, nearby housing; or two options for affordable units that you can rent from us (this money helps run the center)
• Free cooking and cocktail class at Time for Limewhen you stay over one month with us (Time for Lime is a beachfront cooking school founded by Junie Kovaks, which helps fund Lanta Animal Welfare)
• Unique and invaluable experience working on diverse cases and under challenging conditions, which will provide you with a stronger professional skillset moving forward
