Parkway Veterinary Hospital is looking to expand our amazing team and has a leadership position open. We are a busy, small animal practice with 3 doctors located in Dublin, CA in the East Bay Area/ Tri Valley County. Our clients and patients love us which helps to create a great working environment. Lead RVT
We are looking for a full-time veterinary technician with at least 5 years of veterinary experience to lead our medical support team. At our hospital we offer excellent patient care and we believe in cultivating a team-based environment. We have a strong leadership team and are looking for the right person to add as our technician supervisor.

Our technicians and assistants assist our veterinarians with the diagnostics and treatments of patients: monitoring anesthesia, performing lab-work, assisting with oral health procedures and surgery, as well as monitor hospitalized patients. We also utilize digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray, and ultrasound to provide excellent medical care

We are looking for a technician leader who is not only detail oriented but very good at organizing the team. Candidates should be professional, friendly, courteous, and able to multi-task. Candidates should have basic computer skills and organizational skills as well as excellent communication skills (knowledge of Avimark is a big plus). This position is integral in keeping the flow of the hospital and requires constant communication with other team members.

Job duties include:

  • Responsible for new employee training, per training protocol.
  • Create and implement protocols and procedures.
  • Work with Administrative Team and other department Supervisors.
  • Support of practice goals.
  • Build team spirit.
  • Proficient in IV catheter placement and urinary catheters.
  • Proficient in blood draws.
  • Perform SQ, IM, IV injections.
  • Monitoring hospitalized pets.
  • Performing various lab tests in hospital and out.
  • Surgery: Preparations, anesthesia monitoring, patient recovery, and surgical write ups.
  • Reviewing treatment plans and go home instructions.
  • Calculating medication oral and injectable.
  • Strong understanding of computers/technology and the ability to type.
  • Strong dentistry and surgical assisting skills.
  • Perform dental scaling, polishing, and extractions.
  • Digital Radiology / Dental Radiology.
  • Updating SDS & CURES – logs as needed.
  • Animal handling and restraint.
  • Safety Instructor and keeping up to date with OSHA requirements.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials.

Requirements:

  • 4 years Veterinary Technician experience (required)
  • 3 years’ experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician (required)
  • 2 years supervisor experience (preferred)
  • A current RVT license is required
  • A high school diploma is required
  • A desire to lead a team
  • Able to lift 40 pounds
  • Stand/be on your feet up to 8 hours
  • Work weekends
  • Work under pressure
