Head Veterinary Technician ( Other technician positions available including inventory, night and weekend positions).

Retama Equine Hospital is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic head equine veterinary technician to join our growing team! We are a busy five doctor primary care, 24/7 emergency, and surgical equine-only referral center, providing high-quality care for the San Antonio metro area and surrounding cities.

Our ideal, experienced candidate would be someone who is able to:

• Multitask and manage effectively
• Communicate well between all levels of staff members
• Outgoing, detail-oriented, dependable, hard working, confident, and loyal

Veterinary technicians here are team-players, but they should also be able to work independently, and we would depend on our head technician to help keep staff on track. Our working environment is a very positive, supportive place, and we are seeking the right person to compliment that atmosphere.

Our head technician would be someone that can:

• Manage existing staff
• Assist in training new hires
• Develop and maintain technician scheduling (including on call and weekend duties, as well as the work week)
• Communicate with the doctors/practice manager and rest of the technicians,
• Help oversee inventory/ordering and maintaining medical equipment

The ideal candidate is someone who has previously been a head/lead technician at an equine hospital and is confident in their clinical skill set (basic skills like venipuncture to more advanced skills like running triple-drip anesthesia), along with knowledge of regulatory compliances.
