Foothills Veterinary Hospital is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic veterinary technician to join our team. Our practice is a rapidly growing and is a fast-paced environment. The applicant will work closely with Dr. Randall at Greenville and Pelzer offices, both in the operating room and the exam room. Seeking a candidate with a pleasant demeanor, leadership potential, a positive attitude, self-motivated, dependable, knowledgeable and committed to providing excellent patient care. LVT preferred – will consider applicant with extensive experience as well. The regular hours are Tuesday- Friday 8-6. Emergent procedures on Monday and Saturday morning may happen on rare occasion.

Daily duties include but not limited to:
• Communicate with doctors, technicians, office staff and clients regarding status of patients.
• Assist the veterinarian in all aspects during surgical procedures.
• Patient induction and prep for surgery
• Taking radiographs
• Overseeing/assisting with cleaning of operating suites and instruments/equipment.
• Maintenance of general anesthesia
• IV and Catheter placement
• Assist with dosage calculations and dispensing of medication including controlled substances as well as advanced emergency drug calculations, dosing and administration route protocols and common contraindications.
• Prepare patients for discharge to owners including client education about home care and medication to be given.
• Ordering surgical supplies.
• Assisting the veterinarian in exam rooms.
• Gather patient history and clients concerns and questions and relay them to the veterinarian.
• Running lab samples and filling prescriptions.
• Assisting during x-rays and ultrasound.
