The responsibilities and duties of this job require a flexible and multi-talented person who will allow our doctors to develop your talents. Experience handling horses on the ground is a plus. The job includes assisting the veterinarians on farm calls and with in- hospital medical exams, lameness exams, new foal exams, broodmare exams, joint injections, taking radiographs, performing ultrasonography, giving IV fluids, installing IV catheters, keeping drug carts stocked, keeping ambulatory vehicles stocked and clean, filing lab results in the patient’s record, assisting in surgery, assisting/running anesthesia (depending on experience), keeping the pharmacy, surgery suites, induction recovery rooms, breeding lab, xray room , etc clean and orderly, answering phones and/or calling clients. The job will also include some after hours work with the DVM’s depending on the patient caseload. There is another technician with which to rotate those duties. We work very hard to make every day an 8am to 5pm day if at all possible. We hit the ground running at 8am so that we have time to give all of our clients and patients quality service and care and still take care of our staff. A good attitude is a must.
