The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to work a 50:50 split between our 24hr hospital – Beckenham and our busy clinic – New Cross (formerly John Hankinson vets).

The role will be 4-days a week based on a fixed 2 days at each practice, however a part time applicant will also be considered to do 2 days a week at New Cross instead.
Both practices are very well equipped- benefiting from ultrasonography with echo capability, endoscopy, separate cat and dog wards and modern spacious surroundings.
24hr Beckenham has a 4/5 vet day team and a dedicated night team of vets and RVN’s. New Cross is a 3-vet team and both practices benefit from a strong and competent team of RVN’s and support staff.

There is a very interesting and varied caseload, ideal for someone wanting to, or currently studying towards a post graduate certificate. Certificate study is encouraged and supported. You will work alongside veterinary surgeons with a range of interests- including- cardiology, imaging, surgery, medicine, ECC and ophthalmology. You will have the opportunity to continue developing in a busy but supportive environment.

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, work well within a large team but have the ability to manage their caseload independently. They will be confident with all routine surgical and medical cases and ideally have a medicine bias. Ultrasonography skills would be advantageous.

The role will suit someone with at least 3 years UK (or UK equivalent) experience and someone wanting to practice to a really high standard.

The successful candidate will work 39 hours a week over 4 days. You will also be part of a 1:6 full weekend rota.
