The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join our friendly and diverse team. This is a full-time role working 40 hours a week over 4 days 9am to 7pm with 1 in 2 Saturday consult weekends, 1 Night a week on call and 1 in 7 long on call weekends – Friday evening to Monday morning. When on call you will only be called in as and when required. Mornings and afternoons are spent dealing with consultations and after will be spent dealing with the inpatients and liaising with the owners regarding further work ups required or you will be on theatre duties and will complete the ops booked in for that day.

Walton Lodge Veterinary Group Ltd was co-founded in September 2000, by Helen Lee BVSc, MRCVS & her partner Rodney Pugh. Helen Lee is the senior Veterinary Surgeon at Walton Lodge and Helen qualified from Bristol University in 1984 and has worked in Hertfordshire since 1985 as a small animal Veterinary Surgeon. Walton Lodge Veterinary Group aim to provide a high quality, friendly, caring service to our clients and their pets. We understand that pets are part of the family and therefore deserve the best treatment possible. Our team of experienced and very capable Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses aim to provide the highest quality of care for our client’s pets. Walton Lodge has six surgeries which are situated in Bengeo, Bishop's Stortford, Harlow, Hoddesdon, Stevenage, and Ware.

Our Hoddesdon surgery is where our 24-hour emergency on-call care centre is located. This surgery has 24hour on-site nurse monitoring, to maintain all our clients’ pets care and needs. Our high standard equipment includes the latest in Digital Radiography technology, High-speed Colour Doppler Ultrasound scanners, DVD endoscopy, High-powered Dental Scalers and Polishers, ECG & Anaesthetic monitoring equipment. Walton Lodge is made up of a team of 8 experienced veterinary surgeons, 8 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Student Veterinary Nurses and 11 Receptionists.

Applicant Requirements

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon with great client communication skills, a good team ethic and able to make decisions, delegate and prioritise. We would Ideally like to have someone with an interest in surgery and orthopaedics, but this is not essential.
