Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team on a full time basis. Your day would begin with either a morning of consulting – with a scheduled coffee break! – or a morning in theatre. In the afternoon there is consulting, which is divided equally between the team. If a clinician is not on the rota to consult then they are free to use the time to work-up cases, do CPD or be available for emergencies. Due to the spread of vets across 4 sites we do not have physical clinical rounds, but instead we have virtual rounds at the end of each day, using WhatsApp.

About Us

A Tier 3 small animal veterinary hospital with 3 branch practices. The hospital is a purpose built site that is well equipped with digital radiography, ultrasonography, dental radiography and endoscopy. Located in Ipswich, close to glorious Suffolk coastline and within easy reach of London. We are a supportive and ambitious team who strive to provide gold-standard veterinary care.

We are a team of one clinical director, 10 vets (a mixture of full and part-time), 9 registered veterinary nurses (a mixture of full and part-time), 2 student veterinary nurses, 11 reception and support staff, and 2 practice managers. Within the vet team we have a wealth of experience – 4 certificate holders (small animal medicine and surgery) and 2 vets currently training – 1 small animal medicine and the other in exotics. We are a very supportive team, we often have clinical meetings and there is at least one bake brought in a week! We like to be involved with the community, and help to run the annual dog show at a local event. We fundraise for a local hospice. Our teams like to socialise outside of work, and there are regular evenings out organised when the pandemic allows! We all love to let our hair down at the annual Christmas party and team building events.

Applicant Requirements

We are hoping to recruit a friendly, motivated and enthusiastic team-player who would like to be involved in driving progression of the group. It would be preferable that the candidate either is a certificate holder, or plans to undertake a certificate, in Diagnostic Imaging, although this is not essential. It is more important to us, that we find a Vet who fits in well with our team. We will provide an environment of support and encouragement for career progression. Due to the location of our practices, it would be preferable that any candidate has an up-to-date driving license, and a practice vehicle is available for business use.
