Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

The Role

Due to our continuing expansion, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced full time Veterinary Surgeon to join us. We are a RCVS accredited small animal practice with a motivated team of 33 staff. If you have a strong work ethic and positive attitude to life, we’d love to meet you! Salary of £45-60K DOE. A certificate or keen interest in dentistry or internal medicine would be advantageous. Certificates are funded and encouraged. There is no sole charge, and you’d work 4 days a week (9-6:30pm.) Vets have a 1 hour lunchbreak and at least 1 hour of admin time each day (longer if operating/ performing diagnostics.) Days off are scheduled to allow a long weekend every 4 weeks at a minimum. You’d work 9-4pm on 3 out of 10 Saturdays. On call is only for 3.5 hours one weeknight per week and is negotiable. The role can be given a dentistry bias if desired. Pre-COVID our appointments were 15 minutes and they are currently 20 minutes.

About Us

Our exceptional reputation over the past 66 years speaks for itself as our clients voted us “Best Scottish Vet” in 2018, 2019 and 2020. We support all interests and are currently funding several certificates for our vets and RVNs. Certificates currently held in the practice include Soft Tissue & Orthopaedic Surgery and ECC. We work in a bright, spacious purpose-built building with plans underway for an expansion in 2021. Our practice is particularly well equipped with surgical and diagnostic kit as we have a high proportion of clients seeking gold standard treatment. Our caseload is large and varied with many longstanding, loyal clients. We work closely with the Scottish SPCA and other local charities to perform surgeries, consultations, and legal casework.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for a confident all-rounder who has a positive, resilient attitude. The ideal candidate would be level headed with excellent communication skills. Candidates need to be confident performing routine dentals, surgeries and managing medical cases. Candidates must be MRCVS and a full UK driving license is useful but not essential.
