Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced veterinary surgeon to join our first opinion 6 vet team at Norcross Vets in our purpose built, award winning veterinary practice, set in Thornton Cleveleys along the Lancashire coast at an exciting time in its history.

• 4 days per week
• No OOHs or On Call
• Consults
• Clinical time
• Routine and non-routine surgery
• Weekends: 1 in 5 rota

Your role will involve working from a beautiful, light and spacious 12,000 sq foot building that houses separate dental, imaging and chemotherapy suites, surgical and orthopaedic theatres with dedicated cat and dog wards and our very own conference room facilities. We are keen to keep progressing, with tier 2 status approved, hospital status will come later.

This is an exciting time to join our practice as it undergoes huge changes with a new veterinary team and new Clinical Director; you and your colleagues can grow with the practice and have a real input and impact on the practice’s future! The site has so much potential and we are all excited for this new chapter.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, have sound first opinion experience in both medicine and surgery; (a surgical bias would be an advantage but not essential), provide an exceptional level of care, have a desire to develop clinical acumen and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

In return, you will be fully supported by our new Clinical Director whose aim is to provide a happy balanced working environment where Vets will be actively encouraged to follow and develop their own cases, progressing their clinical expertise through daily case discussion, participation in clinical meetings, outcome audits and undertaking focused CPD.

In addition, further clinical support will be provided by our internal referral service (based at the practice) in diagnostic imaging and advanced surgery allowing clinicians to retain local control of their cases.

Our practice has a well-established reputation in the local area and our caseload is very varied. We see a good mixture of routine but also more advanced cases. We are exclusively a first-opinion small animal practice but welcome those with special interests, or those keen to work towards a Certificate. We are also a Vet Nurse training centre. (If you enjoy mentoring this is a great practice for you!)
