Beaumont Veterinary Centre is a long established practice, an accredited Small Animal Practice with the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme and a Vet Nurse Training centre. We are proud to be part of the IVC family. Our team currently consists of 3 veterinary surgeons, 5 qualified RVNs, one ANA trainee, 2 receptionists and a practice manager. As a team we are passionate about continual improvement and hold regular meetings so that all the team are included in taking the practice forward. We are currently working towards PSS Awards in Client Service, Diagnostics and Team/Professional Responsibilities.
We value first opinion practice as a specialism in its own right and you will be joining vets who already hold further qualifications (Cert AVP(Vet GP) and GPCert SAM) and we would actively encourage and support a new team member in achieving similar (if you already have such, even better!). We have 15 minute consultations and would expect you to take time to examine patients and communicate effectively with clients with a view to building long term relationships. If you are a vet who thrives on high pressure, rapid throughput of patients this is unlikely to be the position for you! We have a wide range of diagnostic and surgical equipment including: Digital X ray Digital Dental X ray and dental station Ultrasound (multi probe) Flexible and rigid endoscopes (see also below) Diode laser for surgical and therapeutic use Diathermy unit Fully equipped Idexx Lab (Catalyst/ Lasercyte) Orthopaedic equipment (AO/ASIF fixation and Ridgestop) Tonometer Laser and TENS We carry out a wide range of surgeries including soft tissue, ophthalmic, orthopaedic and endoscopic procedures.
We were the first practice in Devon to offer laparoscopic neutering. Our nursing team are trained in consultation skills and Schedule 3 procedures and carry out a wide range of nurse consultations including senior and weight clinics, behavioural advice, physiotherapy treatments, health checks for our preventative health scheme, post-op and dental checks and puppy parties. The practice organises client meetings regularly and recent events include an open evening for local schools, a first aid course for clients and evening meetings on feline behaviour and osteoarthritis.
The role involves a 4 day working week with weekends shared on an equal 1:3 rota (we are planning to extend this to 1:4). We work with an out-of-hours provider within the city but provide our own care for in-patients on rota with full VN back up.
Ideally we are looking for a veterinary surgeon with some experience, though an enthusiastic recent graduate would be offered full support. We can offer a fantastic working environment within a dedicated team with loyal customers. The successful candidate will be an excellent team player who is looking to provide the very best in veterinary care to our much loved pets.
