Veterinary Receptionist

Job Description

The Role

We are currently looking for a Receptionist on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave at our friendly practice in Newport, Gwent. This is full time role working 35hrs per week over 6 days with hours between 6.45am to 8.30pm and 1 in 3weekend shifts with no out of hours. Duties for this role include: answering the phones, scheduling appointments, booking in surgical procedures under the direction of the Veterinary Surgeons, taking payments, daily cashing up, dealing with client queries, dispensing medications, stock control and keeping the reception area clean and tidy.

About Us

We are a Small Animal practice based in the main city of Newport, South Wales which is close to all local amenities and only a 30-minute drive to Cardiff. We have a friendly and well established team consisting of 8 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Nursing Assistants and 8 Receptionists. We have a series of state of the art equipment which includes, X-rays & Dental X-ray, Endoscope, In-house laboratory, Blood pressure monitors, capnography equipment, ECG machine and ultrasound.

Applicant Requirements

Our ideal candidate will have 5 GCSE’s at level C and above. The applicant should have a minimum of 1 year of reception experience and be used to working in a busy environment. We are looking for a natural people person who has an exceptional telephone manner and great communication and organisational skills.
