Veterinary Receptionist

Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to join us part time, working an average of 30 hours per week including weekends. Monday to Friday shifts will cover the hours of 7:45am – 11:00pm and typically are worked over 3 weekdays out of 5. 2:6 weekends (Saturday 8am – 6pm and Sunday 9am – 5pm).
What can you expect from the role?
First and last point of contact for all clients on the phone, face to face & email
Booking appointments for Veterinary Surgeons & Veterinary Nurse consultations, and for operations
Setting up and cleaning of consulting rooms throughout the day for clinical team
Ensuring the waiting room and reception area is always kept clean and well-presented
Giving preventative healthcare advice for example recommending our flea treatments. Full training will be provided
Promoting and being knowledgeable of our Healthcare Plan. Full training will be provided
Receiving payments from clients, processing securely and end of shift banking procedures
Responding to emails and enquiries

About Us

Our team is made up of 13 Veterinary Surgeons (9 of which are certificate holders), 21 Veterinary Nurses and Student Veterinary Nurses, 13 Veterinary Receptionists and 5 fantastic support team members. We actively support a number of charities each year including local and national and the team are involved in who we choose each year.

Applicant Requirements

What are we looking for in a candidate?
Ability to provide a high standard of client care skills in a fast-paced and sometimes pressurised environment with customers both face to face, over the telephone or by written communication
Proven experience of using Microsoft Office; databases; booking & telephone systems
Ability to communicate effectively in English with clarity both orally and written
A positive energy
Multi-tasking skills
Compassion
Patience
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to show discretion in sensitive situations
A team player –must be reliable and able to get along with others
Previous Receptionist experience is essential and previous Veterinary Receptionist experience is advantageous
You must hold a full, clean, UK driving licence with access to your own transport
