Tired of the daily caseload of vaccinations, but not quite ready for the unkonwn of critical care cases? Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital , located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is looking to hire Veterinarians for our new Urgent Care service line. Urgent Care focuses on non-critical patients in need of after-hours, weekend or immediate care.

We are interested in speaking to internship trained candidates and experienced GP or ER clinicians for part time or full time positions.

This position will include care and services of non-critical care cases, to include skin lacerations, vomiting, bite wounds, ear infections, eye and skin issues, etc. The schedule will consist of 8-hour shifts, likely being 2pm-10pm, with no overnights! Highly trained support staff and registered veterinary technicians will be working alongside our doctors. In addition, consultation with the specialists at NIVES is easy and a quick phone call away.

NIVES serves the pet owners and veterinarians in the tri-state region of NE Indiana, SE Michigan and NW Ohio. The new urgent care facility is located adjacent to our main specialty building, separated by a shared parking lot. Our call center will funnel cases to the appropriate service line, however urgent care cases still have the added advantage of direct transfer to the critical care hospital for overnight care if needed.

Our specialty & critical care facility offers state of the art care by providing:
• Digital radiography

  • CT
  • Ultrasound
  • Endoscopy

• Snyder ICU unit
• Companion LASER

  • Chemotherapy

• In-house lab including standard full blood analysis, I-Stat 1 handheld analyzer, point of care glucometers, coagulation monitoring (PT/PTT), microscope and blood typing & cross-matching
• In hospital blood donor program
• Noninvasive and invasive blood pressure monitoring

The new urgent care service line will offer many of the same diagnostics onsite:
• Digital radiography

  • Ultrasound

• In-house lab including standard full blood analysis, I-Stat handheld analyzer, point of care glucometers
• Microscope for cytology
• Noninvasive blood pressure monitoring
