The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney is a progressive and world-class veterinary hospital, located in Sydney’s Inner City. UVTHS provides a diverse range of services to the public, one of which is Surgery.

The role:
As a Surgery Nurse, you will encounter a diverse and exciting caseload. You will work closely alongside a team of international specialists, residents, interns and students to provide gold standard patient care.  You will support specialists at the forefront of clinical research projects such as mitral valve surgery, stents, cardiac cases, orthopaedic techniques. A diverse array of nursing duties include: specialist clinical patient care, physiotherapy and postoperative rehabilitation of a high neurosurgery caseload, assist with total hip replacements and laparoscopic surgery, along with surgical innovation such as laser therapy and platelet-rich plasma therapy.

Working closely with The Faculty of Veterinary Science, the hospital is an integral part of providing an important teaching component for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students.  Surgery nurses contribute to the training and development of DVM students during their clinical rotation.

The successful applicant will work on a rota across the operating theatre, in-patient care, rehabilitation, instrument preparation and sterilisation, and maintenance of the surgery wing.

You must possess a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent, with at least 2 years experience in a busy practice.
