Senior Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

The Role

Having recently expanded, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon to become instrumental in the development and growth of our practice. As well as clinical work, the role will involve supporting our part time CD in empowering our clinical team and being the "go to" person for advice and guidance. This is a full-time position, working 4 full days per week between Monday and Friday and 1 in 4 Saturdays from 8.30am until 2.00pm. There will need to be flexibility with this, depending on the cover and support needed at either site. We are closed on all bank holidays and our OOH cover is provided locally.

About Us

Carmel Veterinary Centre is an RCVS Tier 2 accredited, VNTP, two site small animal practice based in Wolverhampton. Both our Fallings Park and Penn Fields practice are within walking distance of a local park, which is ideal if you bring your dog to work or just fancy a picnic during your lunch hour in the summer. With great commute routes, we are only a short drive from the surrounding countryside. Both sites are equipped with ultrasound, digital X-ray, endoscope, bronchoscope and full in house Idexx lab machines. We are committed to providing the best possible service and will always try to go the extra mile to deliver exceptional client and patient care. We have a lovely team of friendly and motivated staff and encourage CPD and self-development. Two of our RVN's are currently working towards certificates and we have two SVN's. We also have a dedicated Clinical Cleaner to ensure we are on top of infection control. It is important to us that we provide a positive and supportive working environment. We have a strong ethos of teamwork and communication and believe listening to each other is vital to improve wellbeing and performance at work.

Applicant Requirements

Our ideal Senior Vet will have a minimum of 5 years experience in clinical practice. They will enjoy leadership, have great people skills and a genuine consideration for wellbeing. They will be a confident surgeon with excellent soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical skills. They will be keen to promote learning and continuous improvement by mentoring less experienced colleagues. A certificate holder would be a bonus. To top it off, an interest in business development and a good sense of humour would be marvellous.
