About the role…

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Completions Accountant. This role will involve working closely with the Senior Integration Finance Manager, external completion accountants, and integration and M&A teams in each territory. This role supports the processes surrounding new entities joining Evidensia across Mainland Europe. Main tasks will be providing reports and other information to the completion accountants in-country, checking the completion accounts to ensure compliance with IVC policy and financial reporting standards, and creating and posting completion accounts and initial acquisition journals, whilst adhering to timetable and best practice at all time. You will post opening balances for approximately 100 acquisitions in one year across all territories. You are responsible for liaising with completion accountants in all territories.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring timely delivery of reports and other information to in-country accountants;
  • Reviewing completion accounts, responding with queries and passing the final draft for review by the Senior Integration Finance Manager;
  • Creating and posting all completion account and initial acquisition journals into open accounts;
  • Updating completion accounts tracker and monitoring of completion accounts inbox;
  • Ensuring regular communication with in-country accountants on progress of their tasks;
  • Ensuring that all relevant documentation and correspondence is filed promptly;
  • Reconciliation of pre-completion balance sheet accounts for each set of completion accounts;
  • Preparing a monthly reconciliation of reserve movements relating to completion accounts for the group finance team;
  • Responding appropriately and promptly to queries from internal and external teams;
  • Supporting process improvement initiatives to ensure all processes are robust and efficient;
  • Ad hoc additional tasks as required

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an Accountant with a professional accounting qualification (ACCA or similar), with at least 2 years’ experience in a commercial environment, and a robust understanding of small companies and how they work. You will have strong technical understanding of balance sheet and financial statements, have excellent attention to detail, with the ability to deliver right-first-time results quickly, while maintaining a robust audit trail for all work and be deadline focused and be proactive to put in the effort required to ensure they are always meet them.

The successful candidate will be the type of person that thrives in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment, and has the ability to be flexible. You can demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will have meticulous organisational skills.

We consider first time qualification passes if you have the determination and experience onside. Previous experience of Open Accounts and experience in acquisitions accounting would be an advantage, but not essential. You will have evidence of regular CPD, particularly keeping up to date with financial reporting standards. Relevant language skills (including but not limited to Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Norwegian) would be beneficial but not essential.
