Registered Veterinary Nurse

Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a full time Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team. The position involves working 3 and a half days a week with 1 in 9 Saturday mornings. No out of hours. We are a VetsNow host practice, so our animals get 24/7 care but without the need for us to work nights. Our nurses days are split into three basic shifts. On the inpatient shift, your days is spent entirely in the hospital ward, caring for our inpatients alongside out dedicated inpatient vet. You will also be triaging any emergencies that arrive through the day, and assisting with any procedures that inpatients require. The other two shifts are either surgical, or consulting based. Both of these shifts include time spent in labs. These shifts could be either in the main hospital in High Wycombe, or at our branch surgery in Hazlemere.

About Us

We are a busy, progressive small animal practice composed of three sites (our main hospital in High Wycombe and two branches in Hazlemere and Watlington) with 11 vets, 14 nurses and a wonderful team of patient care assistances and receptionists. We are fortunately situated within an easy 40 minutes of central London, but surrounded by the beautiful Chilterns countryside.

We are a VetsNow host practice, so out of hours are patients are looked after 24/7 on site. We also have a visiting cardiac specialist and orthopaedic specialist who can provide in house diagnostics and care for our patients.

We place a high emphasis on learning and development, and are lucky to have a range of vets from new graduates to Advanced Practitioners in Small Animal Medicine. We also have members of staff studying for their certificates in medicine and surgery. We are a nurse training practice, so have had the pleasure of nurturing many nurses from students to RVN.

We encourage the development of interests within the practice, and encourage our nurses to pursue their passions. We believe we can all learn together to improve animal welfare each day. In non Covid times, we take an active role in the community, organising charity fundraisers and attending local fetes. We also work very closely with both local and national animal charities, such as Stokenchurch Dog Rescue, the Blue Cross, the RSPCA and Cats Protection.

Applicant Requirements

Patient welfare is at the heart of everything we do at Crossroads. We are looking for a motivated nurse to join our friendly team. A love of the clinical RVN role is mandatory and clinical coaching qualifications are preferred. A successful candidate would be a good team player, with a passion for animal welfare and compassion for clients.
