Registered Veterinary Nurse

Job Description

The Role

We are currently looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team in Oswestry, Shropshire. This is a full-time role working 40 hours a week over 5 days with a day off after a night on call and an extra day off after working the weekend. Our weekend rota is 1 in 5 or 6 dependent on the time of year. Our weekday shifts vary between 8am and 6. 30pm.Our nurses rotate round kennel duties (supported by Veterinary Care Assistants), assisting with surgery, acting as anaesthetist, and assisting with vet consults. We also have a branch surgery where the nurses assist the vets and hold nurse consults. We have nurse clinics at the main hospital but are keen to expand these after Covid. Nurses are also involved with medicine ordering, practice social media posts and our companion animal newsletter.

About Us

We are a long standing friendly mixed practice located on the pretty Welsh borders with Hospital status on the companion animal side. Our theatres, prep room and kennels were upgraded 7 years ago, and we see a nice mix of pet and working dogs.
As a hospital practice we have a lot of toys and are supportive of veterinary nurse CPD.
We currently have 14 Veterinary Surgeons, 10 Veterinary Nurses and 2 Veterinary Care Assistants. We have several GP Cert holders in the practice in medicine, surgery and ophthalmology. As a practice we have supported Mental Health Research UK since its inception, raising nearly £20k so far through a variety of events over the years. We have supported our local agricultural show each summer for the last 20 years being both show vets and having a large marquee for the public to visit.
