The Role
We are currently looking for a Veterinary Nurse to join our small animal practice. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, 5 days per week with a mixture of shifts from week to week between 7.30am -8pm. Nurses have the Saturday shifts working out in around one in seven Saturdays 8.30am-5pm, time is given back for Saturday hours the following week for Saturdays worked. One bank holiday a year (excluding Christmas day and New Year’s Day).
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of nursing care including clinics and in-patient care before, during and after surgery. We are looking for someone who is happy to be working in a large team, confident in all aspects of surgery/medicine workups and be able to provide high quality clinical care to all pets.
About Us
We are a long established first opinion, small animal veterinary practice with 6 primary care branches in the northeast and a large group of staff. The position will be mainly based at 2 of our branches in Backworth and Shiremoor with occasional visits to other consulting branches.
We are one of the only northeast first opinion practices with a CT scanner in the premises, the rest of our equipment is modern including in-house lab, digital x-ray, ECG, ultrasound, Laparoscopy, and dental x-ray.
We are a large group of over 60 staff members. In the vet’s team we have medical, surgery and emergency critical care certificate holders as well as rabbit and dental enthusiasts. Within the nursing team we have exotic, medicine certificate holders and clinical coaches.
CPD is supported and actively encouraged within the team. The practice is friendly, with good communication among the staff and in normal circumstances there would be opportunities to meet outside of work to socialise.
Applicant Requirements
We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a great work ethic and excellent communication skills. We would be willing to employ a newly qualified nurse who is looking to gain further experience in a supportive environment. The ability to work well in a team and have a passion for all aspects of general nursing are essential. The candidate must hold a full clean driving license.
