Registered Veterinary Nurse / 2nd year SVN

Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse/ 2nd Year SVN to join our fabulous team! The responsibilities include to confidently handle and restrain animals, provide nursing care to hospitalised patients, including patient monitoring and health checking, feeding, grooming and walking animals, administer treatments including injections, tablets, fluids and blood transfusions, perform diagnostic tests e.g. blood sampling, urine analysis and x-rays, prepare animals for surgery and perform dental hygiene monitor anaesthesia, assist veterinary surgeons with operations, maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the practice, communicate with pet owners, gaining their trust and reassuring them about their animal's treatment, educate pet owners on animal health, including vaccinations, worming, flea prevention and appropriate nutrition support. Some receptionist duties required. Further training is encouraged and funded.

We aim to provide gold standard of care to the small animals in the area, and to the patients that are referred to us through Byre Veterinary Referrals. Byre’s hospital is modern, and purpose built, with digital radiography, endoscopy, ultrasonography and dental radiography in our dedicated dental suite.

We are also an ISFM accredited practice. We offer referral services in dentistry, ophthalmology and surgery.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for an experienced, qualified nurse who wants to offer the best standard of care possible. We would also be keen to consider a 2nd year SVN applications. Must be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and be able to work independently and using initiative. We require a motivated veterinary nurse with high standards and a passion to deliver high quality veterinary care.
