The Role

We are currently looking for Practice Manager to join our friendly team in Axminster, Devon. This is a full-time role with no out of hours shifts or weekends normally required.

Duties for this role include:

• Managing, leading, and developing all support functions of the practice to ensure a continuous high level of customer and veterinary care.
• Motivate and organise non-clinical staff, providing support for the Reception Team Leader.
• Help with recruitment, provide HR support and promote wellbeing
• Work alongside the Clinical Directors to develop the practice
• Attend management and staff meetings
• Respond to all customer concerns and complaints
• Assist the Finance Administrator and Accounts Administrator to provide financial management
• Coordinate maintenance & repair of the premises
• Oversee Health & Safety of staff and clients

About Us

Coombefield is a RCVS accredited purpose-built veterinary hospital together with a branch surgery in an area of outstanding natural beauty near the south coast. We have a dedicated and ambitious vet and nursing team providing routine, emergency and out of hours services.
There are excellent veterinary facilities, and our clinical teams are committed to providing the best of veterinary care. Our staff are great to work with – many have been with us for years.
There is excellent office space, a meeting room, and a conference room. The location in town is within walking distance of shops, gym, and swimming pool.
We have a team of 12 Veterinary Surgeons (full and part time) supported by a large Veterinary Nursing and Reception team, together with excellent finance and accounts admin staff.
As a veterinary nurse training centre we also have students and veterinary care assistants.
Several vets have, or are studying for, certificates/higher qualifications. We are committed to providing excellent veterinary and customer care- always seeking to improve our standards.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for a caring and kind person who is an excellent manager and who can organise and motivate others. You must be prepared to learn new skills and embrace varied and interesting challenges. The ability to develop business cases for investment to progress and expand the practice is desirable. Experience with recruitment, providing HR support, IT and communication skills are required. Previous management experience, knowledge of veterinary practice and a basic understanding of bookkeeping process and finance is essential.
