Southwest Animal Clinic in the inner loop (near the Medical Center/West U) of Houston, TX, is a fast-paced hospital and seeking a Medical Director for our practice. He/she will provide leadership and is responsible for setting the medical standards at the practice as well as working directly with the practice manager to ensure the financial health of the business.

Our facility is equipped with a variety of services;

  • including an in-house laboratory,
  • digital radiography,
  • cold laser therapy as a pain management offering.

Job Description

As a Medical Director you will:

  • Examine animals and check their health status by appointment or walk-ins
  • Diagnose illnesses and determine the best treatment
  • Dress wounds of injured animals
  • Perform dental, ophthalmic and orthopedic surgeries
  • Vaccinate animals to prevent diseases
  • Spay and neuter cats and dogs as needed
  • Prescribe medication
  • Advise pet owners on nutrition, preventive healthcare and general care
  • Conduct home visits occasionally, in case of emergency
  • Update client records

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
  • 5+ years experience
  • Leadership skills
