Critter Care Veterinary Services, located 1 hour southwest of the Chicago metropolitan area, is searching for a Medical Director/Managing DVM to partner with leadership to accomplish our goal of nurturing the human-animal bond.

Our goal is to practice the highest quality of medicine while nurturing the human-animal bond through progressive and thoughtful medical care for our patients, and client education. The Medical Director/Managing DVM is responsible for creating an environment of teamwork in which quality medicine is delivered. In partnership with the Hospital Manager, the MD/MDVM is responsible for the financial performance of the hospital, preparing operating and capital budgets, and meeting budget expectations. The Hospital Manager and the MD/MDVM will partner to take on the responsibilities of directing staff and managing the practice under the direction of NVA Divisional Leadership.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed
  • 4+ years of experience working as a licensed veterinarian
  • Previous experience in a lead/supervisory role – preferred
  • Special interest in advanced surgery, holistic medicine, and/or orthopedics – preferred
  • Some equine or exotics experience – preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills through charting and client interactions
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
  • Ability to motivate staff, delegate responsibility, and achieve results with hospital team members
  • Capable of quality decision making
  • Coaches corrects, develops, and motivates Associate DVMs
  • Demonstrates excellent time and task management
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation with staff and clients
  • Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to- date w/assistance from Lead Tech
  • Stays current on new medical information and changes to veterinary medicine
