Westside Animal Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN is hiring a Managing Veterinarian/Medical Director for their AAHA accredited practice!

Westside Animal Hospital is a full-service small animal veterinary hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We’re a 4-doctor practice, looking to add a 5th. Our location is convenient to the southwest (Aboite) area of Fort Wayne. Our state-of-the-art animal hospital features the latest in medical technology. Everything you may need for your pet is available in one place: including outpatient care, hospitalization, surgery, radiology, laboratory, ultrasound, pharmacy, boarding, and grooming.

Our ideal candidate has at least 4 years of experience working as a small or mixed animal veterinarian and has an interest in surgery and dentistry. Previous experience in a leadership role overseeing Associate Veterinarians is preferred, but all veterinarians with at least two years of experience as a veterinarian will be considered!

Job Summary:

The Managing Doctor is responsible for providing medical leadership for the hospital, managing associate veterinarians, and assuring regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine. The Managing Doctor is also responsible for creating an environment of teamwork in which quality medicine and exceptional client service are delivered.

In partnership with the Hospital Manager, the Managing Doctor is responsible for the financial performance and general operations of the hospital under the guidance of Divisional Leadership. In addition, the Hospital Manager and Managing Doctor are responsible for cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment.

The Managing Veterinarian partners with the Hospital Manager (Field/Divisional leadership team) to drive financial performance and general operations of the hospital and to more broadly cultivate a supportive and collaborative team environment. This hospital-level team is supported by their KIT Divisional Leadership who provides practice management training, reporting, and ongoing resources to develop a best in class hospital. The hospital is one of many that report into this KIT division, so the Managing Veterinarian can expect to network with and learn from peers in similar roles in veterinary clinics nearby.

Skills and Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of Indiana
  • 2 years of experience as a practicing veterinarian (DVM) – required
  • 4 years of experience as a practicing veterinarian (DVM) – preferred
  • Previous management and supervisory experience – preferred
  • Small Animal surgery experience: spays, neuters, mass removals
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics.
  • Delegates tasks and achieves results with hospital team members.
  • Leads employees by coaching, correcting, developing, and motivating them to achieve success.
