The Role

As part of our structured growth plan we are now looking for a HR Advisor to join our friendly and efficient team, to support the hospital with core HR skills and resource. This role will support and contribute to continuous improvement of HR and business processes and initiatives and ensure that HR is a friendly, approachable, support function promoting fair treatment, employee wellbeing and aligned with the hospital’s values. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. Hours may need to be flexible and a degree of contact outside of working hours is necessary for the role to support the demands of a 365/24/7 hospital environment.

Main roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide a core HR function to directly support the Hospital & HR Director, in line with local and group policy.
  • Liaise with group HR contacts and services as directed to disseminate critical policies and requests to the senior team.
  • Proactively keep up to date with current and future legislation, best practice, and CIPD communications and advice.
  • Provide advice and guidance to line managers and employees on employee relations and employment law topics such as maternity-, short- and long-term sickness absence, flexible working requests & furlough, and probation extensions.
  • Provide first line HR support across the business and to manage the HR inbox, providing pragmatic and comprehensive HR advice.
  • Create, monitor, review and update all HR policies and ensure these are in line with the current legislation, local and group policies.
  • Prepare employment contracts, job descriptions and advertisements.
  • Manage the recruitment process including advertising, arranging interviews, checking right to work documentation, making offers to candidates, issuing, and collating approved documentation.
  • Assist with candidate selection including telephone interviews for initial selection.

Hamilton Specialist Referrals (HSR) is a state-of-the-art, specialist veterinary referral hospital based near the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. Originally orthopaedic and neurology-based, we now also offer services in soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, radiology, and cardiology. All specialists are either European boarded or board-eligible, and all services are supported by two European boarded anaesthetists. We have an ECVN recognised residency programme in place and are in the process of gaining approval for an ECVS training programme. HSR offers the most cutting-edge investigations and treatments, with both a 1.5 Tesla MRI and a CT-scanner on site; and all disciplines work closely with the in-house professional physiotherapy department.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for someone with a CIPD or HR qualification and at least 3 years of relevant professional experience, with a proven knowledge of HR processes, systems, and current legislation.
