The Role

We are seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Medivet Dalston in East London.

Joining our professional, personable team in the practice, you’ll deliver exceptional care by going beyond consulting to listen and empathising, putting patients and clients first, always.

The practice require a confident HRVN with strong leadership abilities to lead a team of two SVN’s and support the Vets with a high volume of procedures.

The ideal candidate will have the drive to manage the admin side of the practice too!

Salary and hours

You will be working 40 hours per week with the standard 1 in 4 weekend with time back in lieu.

You will also be included in our bank holiday and on call rota which is fair share with all nurses in the region. On-call is approx. 3 weeks of the year to support our Night team in 24-hr Camberwell, if required.

This role offers a salary of £27,573 – £28,635 per annum, depending on experience plus £2000 London weighting.

We offer £300 CPD allowance with 2-days leave and in-house CPD available, on-going training is provided as relevant to your role, RCVS and VDS fees paid, 25-days paid annual leave, exclusive company discounts and rewards.

Key Accountabilities

As well as your day to day duties within practice caring for your patients and clients, you will have the drive and ambition to develop the practice optimising the client and patient experience, promoting safety while training, developing and leading the entire nursing team.

You’ll also be proactive in maintaining your own professional and clinical skills, carry out accurate and timely reporting and explore ways that we can further develop our standards.

Skills and Experience

As a RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse, you’ll already have good knowledge of how a dynamic, practice runs efficiently and effectively. Sharing our values being trustworthy, caring and progressive, you’ll also take the initiative in patient welfare and have caring, thoughtful communication skills. Just as important are the leadership skills essential to enabling your team to work as one and look ahead to see how they can be even better.

The Branch

Medivet Dalston is a busy practice in Dalston Lane surrounded by cafés, bars restaurant and the lovely Dalston Gardens just a 2 minute walk away.

This branch performs a high volume of procedures is equipped with full in house lab, ethylene oxide sterilisation and digital x-ray. The branch is set up over three floors with separate cat ward and theatre. We support the ‘Fear Free’ concept so that our patients grow to love us, not fear us.

Medivet Dalston have a great team made up of 1.5 Vets, both trained in clinical coaching, and 2 Student Nurses.

The branch is situated about 5 mins walk from both Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland station. There are also several nearby bus routes and use of a car park at the rear of the practice.

We also have accommodation available if required in Kentish Town, which is approx. 15 minutes via the overground.
