The Role

We are looking for an Head Registered Veterinary nurse to join our team at Medivet Woolwich.

The clinic has a good surgical and medical caseload for a one vet branch and as head nurse at Woolwich, you have the opportunity to develop your own nurse clinics and use your initiative to promote new ideas with the team with the use of a dedicated consulting room.

This is a full time permanent position, covering 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. You will also be part of a weekend rota, covering 1:5 full weekends with time off in lieu at our hospital based in Beckenham.

On-call and bank holidays are on a generous fair shared rotations across nursing teams in the Beckenham area to promote the upkeep and/or development of your hospital and ECC nursing skills and experience as well as a good work/life balance.

Skills and Experience

Qualified veterinary nurse and registered with the RCVS for a minimum of 1-2 years.

Previous experience in leading a small team is beneficial, although not essential as training and development in the role is provided and supported. As head nurse at Woolwich, you have the opportunity to develop your own nurse clinics and use your initiative to promote new ideas with the team.

A good knowledge and understanding of schedule 3 procedures is beneficial as opportunities are available.

Experience of clinical coaching/supervising of student veterinary nurses or a desire to become a clinical supervisor is essential.

A full clean driving license is essential, as patient transportation using our company vehicles may be required on occasion.

The Branch

The branch is located just off the A205 on Powis street which has lots of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, hairdressers and much more, all in walking distance. Woolwich Arsenal and Woolwich Dockyard station are also walking distance from the practice, making it easy to commute when parking is limited in London.

Medivet Woolwich boasts a recently refurbished light and airy premises with RCVS PSS approval and facilities to include: Separate operating theatre, large prep room with areas for general prep and another for dentals, separate cat and dog wards, digital radiography suite and inhouse laboratory.

Being part of the Medivet group our clients, patients and colleagues can benefit from access to facilities at nearby 24hr hospital Medivet Beckenham and our other local main centres for ultrasonography, endoscopy, orthopaedics and advanced imaging such as CT and MRI.
