As the Head Veterinary Nurse, in addition to your clinical duties, you will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the nursing team. You will be able to inspire other team members to continue to maintain high levels of clinical care, whilst maintaining efficiency of the clinic’s workload through supportive management and leading-by-example. We are a very supportive friendly team and endeavour to provide a good work/life balance for all or staff. Hours are 37.5 hrs per week with a mix of early (8am-4pm) and late shifts (11am-7pm) Monday-Friday. We also work 1:3 Saturday mornings until 12pm with a free breakfast thrown in. We have no on call, no OOH, no Sundays and limited Bank holiday cover required.
We are a single site, purpose built, small animal practice with an excellent local reputation and the best team! We have in total 7 Veterinary Surgeons, 8 Nurses and 7 support staff. We are situated in Widnes with nearby links to Liverpool, Manchester and North Wales. As a practice we endeavour to set high standards and keep up with new developments to give the best possible service to our clients, as such we are a RCVS accredited practice. We are a nurse training practice and currently have 8 Nurses in total of which 6 are qualified and one due to qualify very soon. We have a visiting cardiologist, and ultrasonographer who attend the practice also. We have three Veterinary Surgeons who are certificate holders. We have our own in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, multi parameter anaesthetic monitoring machine, ultrasound and ECG.
Previous senior experience preferred, however, an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse will be considered. Must be able to lead the team by example, delegate where appropriate and be able to keep a calm head while under pressure and in stressful situations. The successful candidate will have a friendly caring nature along with excellent communication skills.
