Farm Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

About Us

Tern Farm Vets are a predominantly dairy practice utilising all the usual software and equipment (Interherd, Total Vet, Easiscan, EEJ, full in house lab (culture, microscopy and biochemistry)) to provide a bespoke, professional service to our progressive and friendly farm clients. We also have a large number of beef and sheep clients as well as an increasing number of smallholders. We employ full time TB testers to ensure our vets can enjoy the diversity of farm practice and develop expertise alongside specific clinical interests with further study/ qualifications encouraged and supported. We are a practice who pride ourselves in building relationships with the local community, providing an outstanding clinical service and creating a friendly, supportive working environment. Based on the Shropshire / Cheshire border we are also in a beautiful rural location with easy access to the M6 and Welsh Hills.

The Role

We are seeking to recruit a full time Farm Vet to complete our supportive, progressive team. The role is that of a modern Farm Vet, therefore duties will centre around effectively communicating with our farm clients to formulate proactive, preventative health care plans, Infectious disease control measures and biosecurity advice. You will need to be able to interpret and report farm data and will be expected to help with organising and delivering client meetings and workshops. Fertility and health visits are mixed with the usual level of ambulatory and emergency farm visit.

Applicant Requirements

We would ideally prefer someone with at least 2 years’ experience in farm practice but we would consider any candidate with the right attitude and drive. Although we are looking for a full time vet, consideration would be given to someone looking for part time, to allow the right candidate the opportunity to achieve a work life balance that allows them to excel at work whilst enjoying family life.

As a Disability Confident Employer we are keen to hear from candidates with disabilities and long term health conditions, and would be happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments needed during the recruitment process.
