Exotics Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

The Role

The position available is mainly exotic animal medicine and surgery but with a small number of dog and cat consultations. Support for the out of hours team is required on an equal rota between 10 Veterinary Surgeons. The case load is approximately 40% mammals, 30% reptiles and 30% birds with a significant number of fish and a small number of amphibians. There is also a significant number of birds from zoological collections, mainly birds of prey.

About Us

We are a busy exotics animal clinic within a large, small animal practice. There is a separate out of hours team, so there is overnight care of any hospitalised cases. We have all the normal equipment including a well equipped laboratory. We are in Manchester, having all the advantages of a cosmopolitan city and within easy reach of The Peak District, North Wales and The Lake District for lovers of the outdoors.

Applicant Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience in exotic animal medicine and surgery, however, a candidate who is keen to develop skills in this field of medicine can be facilitated. We have had several people who have gained further qualifications while working with us. You would be working alongside 2 certificate holders and a third colleague who is currently studying for a certificate. Candidates must be an MRCVS.

As a Disability Confident Employer we are keen to hear from candidates with disabilities and long term health conditions, and would be happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments needed during the recruitment process.
