Summit Veterinary Referral Center in Tacoma, WA is looking to add an internship trained Emergency Doctor to our team.

Our emergency and specialty hospital is the region’s premiere tertiary referral center. Summit’s rapidly growing Emergency/Critical care department currently consists of 2 Criticalists and 13 Emergency Doctors. Our doctors work well together, both within and between departments, to provide excellent collaborative patient care.

Our specialty teams also work closely with the ER, and currently include 2 Oncologists, an Ophthalmologist, 2 Radiologists, 2 Cardiologists, 4 Surgeons (and 3 Surgical Residents), 4 Internists and 3 Neurologists. Grand rounds occur daily and our specialists are regularly available to consult on cases (even in the middle of the night). We have 7 surgical suites, CT/MRI, endoscopy, telemetry, digital radiography, echocardiography ultrasound, and will be adding fluoroscopy soon.

We have 50 certified LVT’s and a robust in-house veterinary assistant program. Our technician staff is highly skilled, and able to manage complex critical cases including those on mechanical ventilation, continuous thoracic drainage, etc.

We are the largest tertiary referral hospital in the region, and see many complex and challenging cases. ER doctors divide their time between triage shifts and in-patient management. Daily grand rounds foster a collaborative environment and offers the team an opportunity to regularly consult with our specialists.

Continuous education is central to our culture. Our ER doctors regularly attend various conferences and the specialty teams sponsor CE events as well. If you are interested in providing CE or helping with referral veterinary education and community outreach, you are highly encouraged to do so.

We have grown steadily in our almost 10 year history, but we are still a young developing practice with a lot of heart. We are almost done with a major hospital expansion.
