About Us:

Sydney Veterinary Emergency & Specialists is a 1000m2 purpose-built facility situated in Rosebery who in the last 2 years of operation has expanded exponentially in all our services. We have state of the art equipment which helps us to provide the absolute best care to patients in conjunction with our exceptional staff. The team has full time surgical, canine and feline medicine specialists, as well as a large, well-supported emergency team. Additionally, we have a dermatology specialist on Saturdays, dentistry on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and diagnostic imaging specialist Monday to Friday.

Our growing team of dedicated professionals are looking for nurses who want to grow with us, embrace our ideals and who is dedicated to exceptional patient and client care. Our emergency team needs more nurses due to the consistent growth in our caseload.

The Positions:
We are looking for professional and empathic emergency and critical care nurses who works well in a team but who can also work autonomously. Patient and client care need to be a priority in your work. We are offering permanent full and part-time, as well as casual positions and are on a fortnightly rotation. Working some public holidays is a requirement. Shifts can be a mix of days, nights and weekends.

The positions involve, but are not limited to:
Triage of emergency patients
Responsible for organising and assisting on procedures on emergency patients
Skilled to perform anaesthesia on a range of patients from paediatric to geriatric patients and often critically ill patients for short and long procedures.
Placement of IV catheters, phlebotomy, performing radiographs of diagnostic quality, intensive care and monitoring, pre and post-operative patient care.
Work directly with specialists and emergency clinicians to ensure that the patient, clients, clinicians and team are all attended to and working in sync.
Client communication – providing advice, answering questions and soothing client fears about the status of their pet.
Cleaning – while we have a fantastic animal attendant team, the nurses still need to help to keep the hospital clean and tidy.
The position includes on-going education allowances, assess to various on-line training opportunities.
Regular nurse meetings.
About You:
You must be fluent in English and have excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
Display professionalism, empathy and excellent customer service and care.
Love’s animals and respects clients
Great time management skills
Must have a current Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Technician Diploma. For emergency nurse positions, experience in emergency and or referral practice is desirable but not essential.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a qualified veterinary nurse.
