Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a deputy Clinical Director to join our friendly and motivated team! A large part of your duties will be clinical with a good mixture of consultations and surgery. You will be enrolled onto the IVC Evidensia Leadership Development Programme which is a fantastic learning and development course for Surgeons stepping up to a managerial level. Your role will see you assisting the current Clinical Director and Practice Managers with day to day running of the practice and future planning, alongside your clinical work. Time will be allocated for your administrative duties. Your role will also include mentoring new graduates when needed. There is an opportunity for progression to Clinical Director within the next 12 months. The role does not require any OOH duties.

About Us

Town and Country Vets are a first opinion, small animal veterinary group with three sites based in Blackburn, Clayton le Moors and Whalley in the picturesque Ribble Valley. We have a fantastic team of 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 trainee Nurses, 7 Receptionists and 2 Practice Managers. Our Clinical Director, Mike, has been with the practice for 40 years steering us through many changes over the years. The team is hard-working, friendly and supportive with a wealth of knowledge and expertise, so it is important to us that we find the right person to join our Town and Country family. Professional development is supported within our team.

Our 2 main sites at Clayton and Blackburn are well-equipped, light and spacious. Our Whalley site is more compact but in a pleasant rural setting. We have all the usual equipment including Ultrasound, Digital x-ray at 2 branches and In-House blood machine at all 3. Blackburn is a busy town with lots of local amenities including a large Sports and Leisure centre, Vue Cinema, Ice Rink and Witton Country Park. Our Clayton-Le-Moors surgery draws clients from the local towns and villages in the borough of Hyndburn in the heart of the Pennines. Whalley is a picturesque village in the Ribble Valley close to the Bowland AONB with miles of country walks and stunning scenery. We have great transport links to many major cities including Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds. The Lake District and the North Yorkshire Dales are both just a 1-hour drive away.

We changed our name to Town and Country Vets in the late 90’s when we also did Farm and Equine work before becoming 100% Companion animal. Preventative health care and case continuity are all important to us and you will build great working relationships with your clients and patients.

Applicant Requirements

The right candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon or Senior Veterinary Surgeon capable of delivering high quality and personable veterinary care but ready to also take the next step into a managerial role. A desire to be involved in the development and growth of the practice is very important. You will need good clinical knowledge and sound judgement and the ability to mentor where required. You will have some sole charge experience and be able to work as part of a team.
