Job Description

Are you looking for variety in your clinical work, and a fantastic rural New Zealand lifestyle?  Do you want to be part of an awesome team who strives for great patient care and client satisfaction?  Then welcome to Far North Vets, NZ’s most northerly vet practice!

We are looking for a new team member to join our practice in Kaitaia, New Zealand.  If you are a mixed animal vet wanting to embrace a truly rural New Zealand lifestyle, then here’s just a few good reasons why Far North Vets is the place for you:

  • We value teamwork, respect, and doing what you do well.
  • You will have the opportunity to explore your talent for companion animal, dairy and beef cattle health, with scope for you to develop your specific interests.
  • You will be part of a fun and supportive team of 3 experienced vets (1 mixed, 2 part-time companion animals), and a collection of extraordinary vet nurses, rural vet technicians and admin staff.
  • We offer a competitive salary, take care of your Veterinary Council NZ registration and New Zealand Veterinary Association membership fees, as well as proactively supporting your CPD. Afterhours is compensated with time off in-lieu.
  • We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. Your sense of humour will raise a smile, not an eyebrow, around here!
  • Love the Great Outdoors? We’ve got it all, with beautiful beaches and bushland right on our back doorstep.

Overseas applicants looking to emigrate to NZ are welcome to apply.  Under the Longterm Skill Shortage Work Visa, you could be eligible for NZ residency after just two years.

We are seeking:

  • A recently graduated, or experienced, mixed animal vet, with a degree recognised by the Veterinary Council of New Zealand.
  • A team-player who can build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • A proactive, positive attitude
  • A commitment to continual development.

Our ideal candidate will have a solid background in mixed animal practice, being confident in first opinion companion animal practice, as well as dairy and beef cattle health. You might be someone who now wants to focus more on companion animal practice, but is still happy to keep their hand in farm animal work by covering days off, holidays, and after-hours. A part-time position may be a possibility for the right person.
