The Role

As an Auxiliary Nurse every day will be different and exciting. You will be working at the 24 hour hospital as well as the branches. Shifts at the hospital include reception cover, kennel duties, lab, non-surgical and surgical nursing support duties. You will get the opportunity to experience emergency and critical care work as part of the weekend and Bank holiday rota.

Auxiliary nurses are expected to;
• Support the clinical and reception teams in delivering high quality nursing and customer care
• Be proactive in ensuring stock, supplies or equipment are available to use as needed
• Comply with hospital protocols and procedures
• Adhere to all SOPs and health and safety regulations
• Manage all data in accordance with Data Protection Laws
• Maintain a high professional standard at all times
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the building and adhere to cleaning schedules

Our friendly team is made up of 15 Veterinary Surgeons, 16 Veterinary Nurses, 8 Auxiliary Nurses, 2 Emergency and Critical Care certificate night Veterinary Surgeons and 3 Trainee Veterinary Nurses across all 3 of our branches.

About Us

We are a RCVS accredited 24 hour Veterinary Hospital based in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. Our friendly team is made up of 15 Veterinary Surgeons, 16 Veterinary Nurses, 8 Auxiliary Nurses, 2 Emergency and Critical Care certificate night Veterinary Surgeons and 3 Trainee Veterinary Nurses across all 3 of our branches. We are a Veterinary Nurse training practice who deal with a varied case load so there is opportunity for growth and progression. At our hospital we accept a small referral caseload in medical and surgical disciplines. We have digital radiography, dental radiography, flexible and rigid endoscopes, in house lab including haematology, biochemistry and EPOC machines, excellent ultrasound machine with doppler and a wide range of specialised equipment for performing most soft tissue, orthopaedic and endoscopy surgeries. We have a dedicated and specialised OOH emergency and critical care team.

Applicant Requirements

No specific qualifications are required for this role however the ideal candidate must be have good organisational and time management skills, be willing to learn new skills and be adaptable and flexible. Experience within a veterinary practice, animal care/auxiliary/VCA qualifications, customer service experience is desirable.
