Our AAHA, and Feline Friendly certified practice is now seeking a full time Associate Veterinarian to join our team.

Appalachian New River Veterinary Associates is located in Boone, North Carolina. The town of Boone can be found in the northwest corner of North Carolina, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Boone is home to Appalachian State University, which provides many interesting cultural events. The region is often referred to as “The High Country” for its beautiful mountainous terrain . Boone is the perfect backdrop and starting point for various outdoor activities. There is something to do in every season. There are four ski resorts within 25 miles of Boone as well as tubing and cross-country skiing. River rafting, fly- fishing, zip-line, and hiking are also among the many adventures to be had. Within 10 miles are the towns of Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, and Valle Crucis. Like Boone, each is filled with local attractions, rich history, shopping and dining. The Associate Veterinarian (ADVM) is responsible for medical and surgical care of patients. This includes maintaining client relationships and effectively communicating the care needs and condition of their pet. Medical records are maintained in an accurate and timely manner and estimates are presented to clients in advance of care, as appropriate. The ADVM is considered a member of the hospital ‘ s management team and is therefore responsible for supporting the hospital leadership and NVA. This gives our new ADVM the ability to influence our culture and business development.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of North Carolina
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
  • Dedication to continual learning and sharing of new knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to be empathetic and compassionate, and outstanding collaboration with other members of the ANRVA family
  • Ability to give and receive regular, respectful, caring feedback
