The Role

We are seeking an Assistant Veterinary Surgeon to join our successful partnership, Zasman Vet.

This role will be based in our lovely Crouch End practice in North London. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-2 years’ UK small animal practice (or UK equivalent) experience and be confident in their recommendations.

Salary and hours

Joining our national network of veterinary surgeons at Medivet, offers exceptional opportunities for career development while enjoying a very competitive salary package.

This role offers a basic salary between £36,000 – £40,000 per annum depending on experience.

A generous CPD allowance of £1500 CPD with 3-days CPD leave is also designed to drive your progress, balanced by a 4-day week with 5 weeks annual holiday allowance plus bank holidays. Plus RCVS, VDS and BVA membership.

You will be included on our on-call and bank holiday rota which is fair share amongst all vets in the region. On-call approx. 3 weeks of the year, providing support to our night team at our local Hendon hospital if required.

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.

Skills and Experience

Joining our professional, personable team in the practice, you’ll deliver exceptional care by going beyond consulting to listen and empathising, putting patients and clients first, always.

As qualified MRCVS, you’ll already have good experience gained in small animal practice. You’ll be competent in clinical examination and surgery and confident working sole charge or as part of the wider team. Sharing our values being trustworthy, caring and progressive, you will have all the softer skills essential to working effectively, building trusting relationships with your colleagues, harnessing our one team culture.

You will also display good communication skills and the desire to share your knowledge and skills by being an outstanding, positive example to others.

The Branch

Our Zasman Vet group has eight branches across North London, this role will be based in our wonderful Crouch End practice.

The surgery is near a large park, Alexandra Palace. It’s based in a lovely part of London with a very villagey feel – lots of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants on our doorstep!

We have fantastic clients and we are active in the local community. We take pride in our collaborative approach; you will have the opportunity to call upon our experienced vets for advice including Certificate Holders and a Diplomate.

You will be working alongside a Certificate Holder in Surgery within a well-equipped practice including both digital xray and dental x-ray, ultrasound, tonometer, bronchoscope and endoscope, blood pressure machine, ECG, full lab including microscope, haematology and biochemistry analyser, bone kit as well as full ex-lap kit including suction and diathermy. All out-of-hour care is managed by a local Medivet hospital, where you will also have access to CT and MRI.
