Job Summary:

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) is the largest private owner of freestanding veterinary hospitals in the United States. NVA owns over 1000 veterinary hospitals and boarding facilities in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. NVA has grown rapidly and profitably every year since its inception in 1996. We are currently seeking a full-time, experienced Accounts Payable Representative to join our Support Center team. Our invoices are received and scanned into our payables processing system and paid on a defined schedule from our main office in Agoura Hills. This role is integral to NVAs operations, since timely and accurate recording and payment of invoices is a key part of our financial operations and reporting processes. We need a focused, organized, and team-oriented individual to perform varied tasks accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation, correct general ledger distribution and approval prior to payment
  • Work systematically with the Non-PO invoices to be uploaded, coded, routed for approval & recorded for payment
  • Following protocols for certain invoices such as utilities, expenses reimbursements, refunds, etc.
  • Respond to vendors and hospitals inquiries in a timely manner
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
  • Assist in month end closing
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with department policy and accepted accounting practices

Qualification/Education Requirements:

  • 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience
  • High school diploma required, college courses in accounting preferred
  • Basic bookkeeping and accounting skills required
  • Must have strong work ethics
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to follow standard procedures & instructions
  • Must be computer-savvy & able to work on a multi-platform environment
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable (this is must)
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

Preferred:

  • Proficient in MS Office : Excel and Word, accounting ERP software experience is a plus
  • Strong problem solving skills, accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and procedures
