Event Description

We provide outstanding veterinary education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, using an award-winning curriculum, innovative teaching methods, and an interdisciplinary environment, for both our undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Our undergraduate courses are accredited by the AVMA, RCVS, EAEVE, AVBC and the SAVC. The last evaluation was in 2017. In 2016/17, 91% of our students who sat the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination  (NAVLE) achieved a pass. A total of 64 of the 70 candidates.
The degree of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVM&S) is the equivalent of the North American Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and has the same standing worldwide. Our research spans all aspects of veterinary medicine, from molecules and genes through to animal and human populations. We aim to make a real difference through research which is directly relevant to the improvement of health and welfare of domestic animal species and the protection of public health. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), the joint submission by the School and Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) was ranked as the most powerful in the UK for agricultural and veterinary research. Three-quarters of the research and related activity submitted was judged to be in the highest categories – 4* or 3* – which are classified as “world leading” or “internationally excellent”. The REF is an assessment of the quality of the research being undertaken at UK Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the impact it has in society.
