Blue Mountains Animal Health (BMAH) has been offering after hours emergency services to subscribing clinics since early 2016. BMAH was founded with the goals of:

• improving the work-life balance of participating vets and vet nurses by reducing the duplicated on-call duties of participating clinics; and
• ensuring the 365-days per year availability of local after-hours emergency services to clients of participating clinics.

BMAH is fully equipped for emergencies including digital x-ray, designated theatre, on-site pathology, infusion pumps and hospitalisation facilities for multiple patients. BMAH out of hours service is staffed by on call veterinarians and nurses, in addition there is an on-site nurse till 5pm on weekends. Patients requiring continuous monitoring are transported to a 24hour facility.

BMAH is located at the entrance to the town of Leura, providing easy access, prominent illuminated signage and parking for up to 5 vehicles. The facility is not open for general practice during regular business hours, instead it is utilised by visiting and local veterinarians for second opinion practice and houses a pet groomer and a cattery.
